Construction Foreman – Anderson Underground (MN)

Job Summary:

The Construction Foreman will oversee and coordinate various construction projects from start to finish, ensuring that schedules and budgets are followed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Selects, contracts, and oversees crews for specific needs such as boring or laying cable.
  • Supervises each crew to ensure that work meets quality standards and adheres to specifications.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership on job sites by walking out project and directing crews to meet production goals
  • Schedules and coordinates projects in logical steps and budgets the time necessary to meet each deadline.
  • Plans, coordinates, organizes, oversees, and directs activities regarding the construction and maintenance of assigned structures, facilities, and systems.
  • Ensures safety standards and guidelines are followed on the jobsite and that all safety codes are met in construction.
  • Manages and leads actions that are necessary due to delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with a variety of people, including owners, managers, designers, supervisors, tradespersons, and craft workers, and the general public.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with ARC and GIS software.
  • Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, working well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
  • Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings.
  • Ability to provide leadership to a crew.
  • Must be able to travel up to 80% of the time including overnights.

Education and Experience:

  • At least five years of construction experience preferred
  • OSHA 10 required
  • OSHA 30 preferred
  • Class A CDL License with Tankers Endorsement required

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle up to eight hours to travel to and from job sites.
  • Must be able to work in different temperatures and changing weather conditions.
  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
  • Must have flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of the business.
