Job Summary

The Controller will support the CFO and Leadership team by combining excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles.  The Controller will provide services for the Sellenriek Family of Companies located in Jonesburg, MO which works in the broadband construction, engineering and overhead and underground utility industries. All companies are experiencing tremendous growth, and we are eager add an ambitious candidate who seeks a great career development opportunity.

 

Reporting/Supervision

This position will report directly to the CFO.

This position will lead a team of six accounting processors.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger
  • Assume responsibility for reconciling month-end account balances
  • Prepare month-end close procedures
  • Prepare monthly internal GAAP Basis financial statements, including consolidated financial statements
  • Participate in forecasting and annual budget-setting processes
  • Work with a CPA firm to perform annual review of financial statements and preparation of tax returns
  • Prepare and file quarterly Sales/Use Tax Return
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Other ad hoc projects and responsibilities may be added based on CFO’s discretion

Education/Training Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or another related field
  • Currently licensed CPA preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting systems and percentage of completion accounting is preferred
  • Experience with Vista/Viewpoint construction software or other construction-based ERP software is preferred.
  • Team player, fast learner and ability to work effectively under pressure and within timelines
  • Self-starter, intuitive
  • Effective verbal and written skills (both in groups and one-on-one interaction)
  • Solution-oriented mindset and collaborative work approach
  • Creative problem-solving skills

Experience:

  • 3 – 5 years of accounting experience
  • 3+ years in a supervisory capacity
  • Superior customer service skills at all times, including work with co-workers and colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely with multiple departments
  • Consistent and sustained quality in data entry and ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • High commitment to professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, continually changing business and work environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Independently manage time and prioritize tasks and projects
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all work
