Drop Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Drop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing drop crews for improving delivery of fiber services to homes and businesses. It requires an in-depth understanding of fiber optic design standards and industry processed. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that work meets quality standards and adheres to specifications.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the Drop Engineers and Coordinators

 

Required Education / Experience & Qualifications:

  • Valid ‘For-Hire’ Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in interpreting client requests and applying design standards to work product
  • Familiar with construction focused on fiber builds
  • Knowledge/experience with Web Applications and the GIS design domain
  • Strong Interpersonal, analytical and communication skills
  • Flexible and able to think quickly working to resolve design issues and makes decisions
  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently – must be driven and be able to define work tasks based upon project goal and corporate objectives

Preferred Education / Experience & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in ARC GIS or ARC mapping preferred

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership by collaborating with the Drop Engineers and Coordinators
  • Evaluate, document, and adhere to Customer design requirements
  • Coordinate with the fielding team on specific site visit schedules and data gathering requirements
  • Create high level preliminary route design and facility specifics to manage fielding request instructions
  • Perform detailed OSP and ISP designs specifically adhering to design standards provided
  • Ensure projects are completed within allocated time frames
  • Participate in developing process improvement concepts
  • Help maintain project records and files
  • Responsible for balancing the ticket load and rescheduling when necessary
  • Creating a culture of inclusivity and development
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with a variety of people

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas
  • Must be able to clearly see color and shading in plans and materials
  • Must be able to drive or ride in a vehicle for up to eight hours to travel to and from job sites
  • Must be able to work in different temperatures and changing weather conditions
  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of client homes in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, stretching, or climbing stairs
  • Vision to allow prolonged periods of computer work
  • Light to moderate lifting is required
  • Must be able to tolerate moderate noise (business office with computers, phones, printers, and light traffic)

Safety Expectations:

  • Know and enforce company safety rules and policies to include the company’s drug-free workplace policy, incident reporting policy, and fleet / safe driving policies
  • Verify safety rules are being followed by performing documented work safety assessments
  • Organize and deliver jobsite and shop safety meetings to employees
  • Perform documented corrective action with employees when safety rules are broken or when unsafe conditions are discovered
  • Recognize and reward employees when safety rules are followed, and unsafe conditions are controlled
  • Require, support, and promote pre-work job safety analysis / task safety analysis processes
  • Assess special projects and new jobs for safety concerns and prepare safety controls prior to beginning work
  • Manage safety equipment and personal protective equipment used by employees in your department and span of control
  • Verify and require that all vehicles, supplies, equipment, tools, and machines are used safely and maintained properly
  • Stop all unsafe acts by ANY employee and control hazardous conditions & risks that develop throughout the workday
  • Empower and authorize employees to work safely, utilize safety gear, and correct unsafe acts and hazardous conditions

  • After an incident, participate in investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
