Mechanic
Job Summary:
We are seeking a self-motivated and skilled Service Truck Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for repairing a wide range of equipment and possess strong electrical diagnostic skills along with the ability to read schematics. This position involves working out of a supplied, fully equipped service truck to service and repairing all brands of equipment in various outdoor conditions. The Mechanic will perform repair work and maintenance for cars, trucks, and other pieces of equipment normally used in operations.

Required Education / Experience & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class A Driver’s License
- In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations and maintenance
- Knowledge of welding hard surfaces, ARC welding and fabricating
- Excellent mechanical skills
- Extensive knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine repair
- Extensive knowledge of vehicle, truck and heavy equipment repair
- Proficient with related computer diagnostic equipment and software
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues
- Ability to read service and repair manuals
- Ability to read work orders
- Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion
- Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems
Preferred Education / Experience & Qualifications:
- Master technician certification
- Five years of related experience
- State Inspection Certification
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Consults with field staff to collect information on equipment history, problems with the equipment, and/or known maintenance or repairs required
- Identifies mechanical problems visually and/or with computer diagnostic equipment
- Performs tests on specific parts and systems to determine whether they are operating properly
- Examines critical parts and systems using standard checklists
- Plans out repairs and timetables for completion; provides necessary supervisors with time and cost estimates
- Performs routine and preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups
- Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems such brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts
- Conducts post-repair testing and diagnostics
- Tests equipment/vehicles to confirm proper operation, that repairs have been made properly, and that problems have been resolved
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must have enough vision to inspect repair work.
- Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
- You must be able to stand and walk for up to eight hours per day.
- Must be able to ride in a vehicle as needed to travel to and from job sites.
- Must be able to work in different temperatures and change weather conditions.
- Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
- Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
- Must have flexibility in scheduling as business requires.
